Recent research by the American Academy of Audiology estimates that approximately one in eight children have noise-induce hearing loss. This type of hearing loss is completely preventable, but can lead to increased difficulties with hearing in their 60’s and 70’s.
The American Academy of Audiology has launched a campaign called “Turn it to the Left” to encourage kids to turn down the volume to prevent hearing loss. Simply turning down the MP3 player, avoiding places with excess noise or using ear plugs can help prevent hearing loss.
