Approximately 36 million Americans have hearing loss. One in three develops hearing loss as a result of noise exposure.

You can protect your hearing by wearing hearing protection when around loud sounds. Hearing protection, such as foam earplugs, earmuffs, and custom hearing protection, are all excellent options. Turn down the volume when listening to the radio, TV, MP3 player or anything with ear buds or headphones. Walk away from the noise. And finally, other than hearing protection, do not put anything in your ear.

How do you know if noise is dangerous? If you have to shout to be heard, if there is pain to your ears, if the noise makes your ears ring, or if you have “muffled” hearing for several hours after exposure, then the noise was at a dangerous level. If you are concerned about your hearing call and schedule a quick appointment for a free hearing screening with one of our audiologists.
