All of them wear (or wore) hearing aids. They are part of our largest single disability population. Estimates of Americans who are deaf or have hearing impairments are around 26 million. Of those, 76 percent lost their hearing after the age of 19. One in five baby boomers and one in three people over 65 has hearing loss.
