Digital hearing aids first came on the market in 1996. In the last few years the vast majority of hearing aids on the market have been digital. Essentially, all hearing aids are computerized and all are digital.

Anytime you discuss hearing aids with someone, you may be offered different levels of technology or circuits inside the hearing aids. The difference is how the hearing aid deals with more complex listening environments. If you spend a lot of time in noisy places you will want a more advance circuit. If you primarily need to hear better in quieter environments, you may not need to have the most advanced hearing aid out there.

Your lifestyle and listening needs help to determine what is most appropriate for you. If you are not asked these questions, then you may be paying for more than what you need.
